Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is a 10-man band originating from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 2007 by their lead singer Alex Ebert, who is affiliated with the pop group Ima Robot. The group came to be when Alex met up with future bandmate Jade Castrinos at a Los Angeles Cafe. The group's style has been associated as indie rock, alternative rock and neo-psychadelia. The band had their first performance on July 18, 2007. This performance was palyed at a West Hollywood, California nightclub called The Troubadour. In 2009, the group was invited to showcase at a Texas film festival called the Marfa Film Festival. Later on in that year, the group released their debut album Up From Below. The album was recorded in Laurel Canyon, California, a communal music community. 2009 also featured the release of the band's musical entitled SALVO!. The musical was a three-part series that lasted between April 12, 2009 and May 19, 2011. The ten members of the band include frontman Alex Ebert who is a vocalist, guitarist, percussionist and pianist. Jade Castrinos is a vocalist and guitarist. Stewart Cole plays the trumpet, percussion and keyboards. Josh Collazo is a drummer and percussionist. Orpheo McCord plays the drums, percussion and provides vocal backing. Nora Kirkpatrick supplies vocals and plays accordion. Christian Letts plays guitar and supplies vocals. Seth Ford-Young is a bassist and vocalist. Mark Noseworth is a guitarist and vocalist, and Mitchell Yoshida plays the piano and provides vocals.
