Hozier is the nickname of Andrew Hozier-Byrne, an Irish singer from the town of Bray, located on Ireland's east coast. Andrew Hozier-Byrne is often referred to as Hozier when performing music and as a music artist. Andrew began his musical career by studying music at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. While studying at Trinity College, Andrew Hozier-Byrne played with the Trinity Orchestra, a student run orchestra at Trinity College. Andrew did not finish his studies at Trinity College, he dropped out of college to record demos of his music for a record label. In 2008, he joined Anúna, an Irish choir group that performs traditional Irish music. He performed with Anúna untill 2012. His highlight during his time with Anúna includes touring with the group across Europe and being soloist during the group's performance of La Chanson de Mardi Gras. In 2013 Hozier had a breakthrough. He released his musical recording titled 'Take me to Church,' which featured the songs: "Take me to Church," "Cherry Wine," "Angel of Small Death," "Like Real People Do," and "The Codeine Scene." His song Take me to Church, which he named his musical recording after become a sensation in Ireland. It topped the download charts on I-tunes in Ireland in October of 2013 and was the second most popular song in all of Ireland. In 2014 Hozier released another musical recording called From Eden. From Eden contained a total of four songs including: From Eden, To Be Alone, Arsonist's Lullabye and Work Song. Hozier released his first album titled "Hozier" after himself in September of 2014. His album featured music from his previous two musical recordings.
