Edward John "Eddie" Izzard (born February 7, 1962) Eddie Izzard is an English stand-up comedian, dramatic actor. and writer who was born on February 7, 1962. Well known for dressing in drag while on stage, Izzard claims inspiration for his comedy from Monty Python. Izzard dropped out of college to begin his career in stand up comedy in the early 1980s. By the late 1980s, Izzard began receiving recognition all around London for his comedy act. Then in 1991 he was asked to join Fry and Laurie, which was comprised of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, for an AIDS benefit called Hysteria 3. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s Izzard's popularity only increased, and he has found worldwide recognition for his own unique comedic style. Izzard has released a total of nine studio recordings, and he has appeared in numerous movies, television shows and stage plays. He is also a champion for a variety of charitable causes, and his comedy shows are enjoyed both in the United States and abroad. His comedy style is expressed in rambling, whimsical monologue and self-referential pantomime. In addition to touring, he is also a television, stage and film actor and is active in charity work.
