Bret Michaels is an American rock artist who began his career in his hair band Poison. Poison saw significant success in the 1980's with a variety of hits including "Unskinny Bop" and "Nothin but a Good Time." During this time Bret learned about the ups and downs of the music industry but always stayed focused on his personal goal of being a career entertainer. As the hair band decade faded Bret Michael's continued to write solo material as he settled down and became a father. He released his first solo album in 1998. In 2000 Poison decided to come together for a reunion tour. Since then Michael's has been balancing his time between the band and his solo material. Michael's has also spent a significant amount of time on television. he started his television career as a judge on Nashville Star. He continued his television time with three seasons of the VH1hit 'Rock of Love." The reality show was very successful but Michael's choose not to continue on with a fourth season, instead VH1 co-produced with Michael's the reality show "Bret Michael's: life as we Know it." Bret Michael's also won Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice in 2009. While Michael's has lead a successful life in the entertainment world he has struggled to keep his diabetes under control for many years. Complications from routine treatment left he singer in intensive care and on his death bed in 2010. The singer pulled through and after rehabilitation is back performing and touring again.
