Alter Bridge is an American rock band born from the break of two groups, the Creed and the Mayfield Four.
Alter Bridge was formed in 2004 by Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips, respectively lead guitar and drums of Creed, with Brian Marshall and Myles Kennedy (ex Mayfield Four).
The name of the band derived from a bridge still located in Alter Road, the intersection with Korte, the border between Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park.
Alter Bridge, since the beginning, have been described as “Creed with a new singer”. But the band has been answered by listing the differences from the previous draft, with totally renovated sounds and new musical influences.
Their debut album, One Day Remains, released on August 10, 2004, sold 750,000 copies worldwide and achieved only gold status, so far from the success that Creed had achieved.
In 2006 Alter Bridge's relationship with Wind-up Records ends and they signed a deal with Univerasl Republic.
The second album Balckbird, released on October 9, 2007, received very positive reviews and they started a successful world tour in support of It.
During 2010 Alter Bridge had signed with Roadrunner records and published AB III.
